1980s Vintage Computers


Byte

Byte magazine was published in the US and distributed through Europe. I have a small number of issues from 1981 to 1997 as shown below. Some feature a particular machine, others have a general theme such as robotics.The earlier magazines were several hundred pages long, mostly with adverts for state-side companies.

The magazine had a serious tone, and featured some regular writers such as Steve Ciarcia (Circuit Cellar), Jerry Pournelle (Chaos Manor), and Dick Pountain (Byte UK).

January featured a full review of the IBM PC.

 

1985

August contained an in depth preview of the Commodore Amiga, prior to it being laucnhed.
